River Walk
River Walk into Wareham Quay and Town Centre
A stunning walk across the fields and along the river from Frome View Camping into Wareham, where you will find pubs, eateries and leisure activities. 20 minutes approx.
Find the footpath off Nutcrack Lane
When you leave the campsite, turn right. Walk up Nutcrack Lane for about 150m and on your left you will find a large metal gate, with a smaller gate to the side.

Enter through the small gate and you will see a tall wooden signpost.

Straight ahead you will see the footpath which is adjacent to fencing that is protecting livestock. If you're lucky you may even see some sheep! At the end of the footpath you will come to a gate onto a road. Turn left.

Turn left and head towards the triangle
Once you reach the triangle, you will see a brown sign for Redcliffe Farm and another tall wooden signpost indicating the Purbeck Way. Turn left here. This will lead you down a track where the hill is descending down and will take you towards the River Frome. At the bottom, turn left and follow the river.

Turn left and follow the footpath along the river
This is a beautiful walk overlooking the fields, most often you will see our Cows grazing here. The footpath takes you all the way alongside the river, past the Yacht Club, where you will eventually reach the bridge which arches over the River Frome.

Typically there are always ducks and even swans who take up residence within this part of the river. The Granary Pub on the river sells duck food if you would like to feed them!

Arrive at Wareham Quay
As you reach the end of the footpath, you will enter a green space alongside the river. This is a great spot to dip your toes, but be careful, the steps are very slippery. Often this green space is used for picnics and families. In the Quay itself is an Italian restaurant, two pubs, a cafe, plus public toilets. The Granary pub has two terraces which offer views over the river where you can eat and drink (booking recommended). On the opposite side of the bridge, is the activities centre where you can hire boats, paddleboards, kayaks, canoes etc. When you walk over the bridge, you will see that this main road leads into the town centre.
